Even though this was not a real illness, just a stupid headache, the possible consequences were crystal clear. My career, my personal life, and my financial life – the full range of life choices that had seemed so boundless just a short time ago – were all in jeopardy.
– Paula Kamen, All In My Head: An Epic Quest to Cure an Unrelenting, Totally Unreasonable and Only Slightly Enlightening Headache: A Memoir (Cambridge, MA: Da Capo Press, 2005), p.46
Paula totally gets it! Only fifty pages in but would highly recommend this book already. It’s one of the only pieces of literature I’ve read which has cut right through my sense of isolation. I got mine secondhand via Amazon.co.uk.
