Alternatives to ‘Get Well Soon’

What should we say in the face of the knowledge that a loved one feels poorly? We don't want them feeling that way for long, and we want them to know it - what else can we say? I took some time to compile a list of all the things you could say to spoonies instead.

Feeling very grateful to have been a part of this project. Laura Dodsworth @barereality is a total visionary, and the team at Burning Bright have really lived up to their name; #100Vaginas was incandescently bold and brilliantly put together. Thank you @channel4 for commissioning it - this is the sort of honesty that shame and stigma prevents us from knowing and expressing, and we need it now more than ever. 💝 Please consider getting a copy of #Womanhood for yourself and/or the young women in your life. With girls as young as nine asking about labiaplasty and enduring all kinds of confusion and distress, providing them this kind of #sexeducation could make a life changing difference to their self-esteem and wellbeing. 💗 And please, ladies and all those with vaginas: if you’re experiencing pain either on contact, during penetration, or (like me) unprovoked & 24/7, GO SEE A DOCTOR. Life is too short to let shame, fear or even plain old embarrassment get in the way of you getting the help you may need and definitely deserve. Also, in case anyone is unclear: I have chronic vulval pain, diagnosed as #vulvodynia, which I experience as burning nerve pain 24/7. I am now managing much better due to having found medication that helps and after having #pelvicfloorphysiotherapy, though I still have the condition and do not have any concrete hope of this ever being any different. If you think you may have something similar, please please can I encourage you that there IS hope, there IS quality of life to be had, and you still deserve love & all the good things. Please consider reaching out to a therapist or other mental health professional to help you deal with the grief of having a #chronicpain #invisibledisability. There are also several Facebook groups you can join to help you access support and solidarity and to remind you that you aren’t alone 💕 #womanhoodbook #vaginas #vaginalhealth #gynaehealth #vulva #vulvapower #loveyourvulva #vivalavulva #vulvaportrait #vulvagallery #vulvalhealth
A few favourite moments from the holiday with @lily.parham. You are 100% one of the rarest blooms of all. Thank you for your kindness, your grace, your patience, your quick wit, your sense of fun, your daring, your lack of embarrassment at your compatriots breaking into song & dance in public, and your organisational skills - turns out going on holiday with a fellow organisation-nerd results in a fabulous experience devoid of pressure and panic! Well, apart from during Hyperspace Mountain. But I forgive you for that as well, because good friends coax you out of your comfort zone from time to time... Anyway, just an excuse to say I love you very very much, and thank you for a) making this an unforgettable holiday, and b) being you. 💖 #disneylandparis #noimportaladistancia #bareneige
Never work with animals, children or enchanted mops. Rude, heavy, and didn’t even say ‘merci buckets.’
Not a bad day for a visit to Agrabah... ⛺️⛲️🏰 . . #disneylandparis #shapes #aladdintheme #agrabah #agrabahcafe #agrabahbazaar
We stan a wool-clad princess who gives us practicality and functionality while feeling her fantasy #yaaasqueen #somedaymyprincewillcome but more importantly #wrapupwarm 🧣#layersbeforeplayers #glovesbeforetrueloves #scarvesbeforeotherhalves
The awkward thing is, the kid after her pulled it out first try. 🗡
